San Antonio, Texas is a city well known for many historical sites, attractions, and activities. Many associate San Antonio with tourist attractions such as The Alamo, The Riverwalk, amusement parks, and waterparks. However, in this very large city, there is a little gem tucked away and it’s called Roman Arms, LLC. This is what we will always think of when we hear the name San Antonio.
Paul has worked in the drywall industry for 33 years but has been interested in becoming a Certified Cerakote Applicator since being introduced to the product 10 years ago. He dreamed of changing careers and starting his own Cerkote application business. After lots of thought and planning, we finally took a leap of faith and decided to work towards making Paul’s dream become a reality. As we flew from Minneapolis to San Antonio, Paul gazed out the window, excited about the new journey we were about to embark upon.
We landed late in San Antonio and found our way to our hotel with excitement and anticipation of what the next two days of training would look like. On Thursday morning, we made our way down a little road called Snowflake Drive and we found our training site, Roman Arms, LLC, a NIC-Cerakote Certified Training Facility. We entered the building and were immediately in awe of the completed Cerakote projects that were displayed, some with very intricate designs, true works of art. We met our trainers Abel and Tara Roman and were led into the area where we would be spending the next two days.
The first day began with learning about the Cerakote product, and this quickly accelerated into learning how to accurately mix the product-using charts, beakers, graduated cylinders, and measurement instruments; learning how to appropriately operate and adjust the spray guns used to apply the Cerakote product; and the detailed spraying techniques to ensure the product is applied effectively and thoroughly.
Day 2, we were back learning the entire process of taking our own projects from start to finish. With the guidance of Abel and Tara, we learned how to properly prep the surfaces of our items; how to use stencils and other tools to achieve specific design outcomes; how to prep and applying the Cerakote product; and how to properly cure each item. We also learned the proper cleaning techniques for equipment, including the intricate cleaning of the paint guns and what a task that was. The product finds its way into every little groove and crevice, and if not cleaned out properly can quickly shorten the life of the equipment. The entire process requires a great deal of precision and accuracy to ensure a quality product that upholds the standards of excellence required by NIC Industries-Cerakote.
Though our visit to San Antonio did not allow us much time to visit the historical sites and attractions that the typical San Antonio tourist would venture out to see, we did take the recommendation from Abel and Tara to visit The Pearl District in downtown San Antonio. We enjoyed dinner and a little stroll along a section of the Riverwalk. The food was amazing, and the area was lovely. However, we both agree the best part of our experience in San Antonio was having an opportunity to learn, grow and network. Abel and Tara are AMAZING instructors and have a great deal of patience through the learning process. They made us feel so welcome and prepared us to provide quality Cerakote service to our customers. They are true experts in Cerakote application. We will forever be grateful for their help and guidance in turning the page to the next chapter in our lives. If given another opportunity to return to San Antonio, Roman Arms would be our primary choice in destinations to visit.
